Education is the harbinger of Social Economic Change and corner stone of national growth and development.

Realizing the importance, the Visionary Founding Fathers established BLDE Association in 1910 to impart education to the needy stakeholders at Vijayapura District of drought prone backward area of Karnataka. Today BLDE Association has grown leaps and bounds over the last 115 years, imparting education at Primary, Secondary, Higher, Technical and Professional Education through 80+ educational institutions. BLDEA also established a Tertiary Medical College Hospital to provide Health Care to rural masses. To impart Health Professional Education, Professional Education, Technical Education, Specific Institutions were established during the last 40 years in the field of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Ayurveda, and Engineering & Technology.

Befitting to the national needs, BLDE Association established a BLDE University in 2008 as per GoI’s UGC Regulations. Today it has grown over the last 17 years as a premier health professional institution imparting undergraduate & postgraduate & super specialty Medical Education recognized by National Medical Commission, GoI.

The Medical College Hospital has NABH Recognition, a unique accomplishment in North Karnataka. The university is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade. It is also ranked by National Institutional Ranking Frame Work – NIRF-GoI as a Premier Institution within 150 Rank among Universities in India.

Shri. M. B. Patil, President of BLDE Association and Former Chancellor BLDE (DU), through his Visionary leadership, Missionary zeal and benevolent management strategies has contributed significantly for the progress of the BLDE (DU).

BLDE (DU) has a Sprawling Campus of 71 Acres known for its excellent landscape, greenery and state of art infrastructure facilities & support to its Constituent Colleges / Schools Medical College, School of Physiotherapy, School of AHS, School of Science & Technology and School of Law as well as all student support and facilities. Overall Personality Development & Imparting Professional Competencies is our main aim and objective by creating a home away from home. The students of BLDE (DU) are known for their discipline, determination, dedication and devotion.
