A two-day National Level workshop on “Criminal Laws, Special Acts, and Forensic Science” was successfully organized at the Auditorium, Central Library, BLDE (DU), Vijayapura, on March 28 & 29, 2026 by the BLDE (Deemed to be University), School of Law and School of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with the Vijayapura District Police.

The program commenced with the State Anthem, followed by a prayer song rendered by            student Ms. Keerti Badiger (2022 Batch, Department of Forensic Science, School of AHS). Mrs. Lavanya Kulkarni, Assistant Professor, School of Law, delivered the welcome address. The dignitaries formally inaugurated the workshop by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Shri Hareesha A., Principal District & Sessions Judge, Vijayapura, emphasized the importance of precise investigation and robust evidence in the justice system. He highlighted the critical role of forensic science in ensuring justice and stressed the need to integrate technology with legal processes.

The Guest of Honour, Shri Laxman B. Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police, Vijayapura, addressed the growing challenges of cybercrime and organized crime. He underscored the importance of scientific investigative methods and encouraged students to apply their legal knowledge in practical scenarios.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Y. M. Jayaraj, Hon’ble Pro- Chancellor, BLDE (DU), Vijayapura. He spoke on the importance of coordination between legal and medical disciplines in strengthening the justice system. He also highlighted the influence of social media and advised students to use it responsibly, adding that such workshops nurture research aptitude and professional competence.
