BLDE (Deemed to be University), School of Law, Vijayapura, celebrated National Librarians’ Day on 12th August 2026, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, popularly known as the Father of Library Science in India.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Nitesh Naik, Assistant Librarian, BLDE (Deemed to be University) School of Law, Vijayapura who warmly welcomed the         Prof. Dr. R G. Kulkarni, Dean & Principal, BLDE (Deemed to be University) School of Law, Vijayapura and all the Teaching faculty & Non Teaching staff of BLDE (Deemed to be University) School of Law, Vijayapura to the celebration. He briefly highlighted the significance of National Librarians’ Day and the contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the development of libraries in India.

Following the welcome address, floral tribute was offered to the photograph of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan as a mark of respect and remembrance. Dean & Principal, Teaching faculty & Non Teaching staff paid their respects and remembered his remarkable contribution to the library profession.

Prof. Dr. R G. Kulkarni, Dean & Principal, BLDE (Deemed to be University) School of Law, Vijayapura addressed the gathering and spoke about the significant contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the field of library science. He highlighted the importance of libraries in supporting academic activities, developing reading habits, facilitating research, and providing access to knowledge and information. He also appreciated the efforts of the library staff in providing effective library services to students and Faculty members.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Nitesh Naik, Assistant Librarian, BLDE (Deemed to be University) School of Law, Vijayapura who expressed his sincere gratitude to the Dean & Principal, all the Teaching faculty & Non Teaching staff, and everyone who participated in and supported the successful organization of the National Librarians’ Day celebration.
