To commemorate World Environment Day, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of BLDE (Deemed to be University), in association with BLDE(DU)’s National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, organised a Green Drive Environment Awareness Campaign with the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate.
For Our Future” on Wednesday, 24th June 2026. The event was conducted with the objective of raising awareness among students and faculty members regarding environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and the importance of protecting natural resources.
The event commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Santosh Patil, NSS Programme Officer, who highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and the need for collective action to address environmental challenges like pollution, climate change, deforestation, and waste management. The event included an awareness talk on environmental sustainability by Dr. Sumanagala Patil, Director IQAC. Madam addressed the gathering by emphasizing the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental responsibility among students.
The speech effectively conveyed the message of environmental stewardship to the gathering, as the content of the speech included topics such as waste segregation, water conservation, renewable energy, biodiversity protection, and eco-friendly lifestyle practices. A tree plantation drive was also conducted during the event. Faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students planted saplings in designated areas of the campus, symbolizing their commitment to creating a greener and healthier environment. Participants were encouraged to nurture the planted saplings and contribute actively to campus greening initiatives. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tanuja Pattankar.
