Guest Lecture on the Topic “An Overview of Hiba in Muslim Law”
A guest lecture on “An Overview of Hiba in Muslim Law” was organized for the I Year LL.B. students (LL.B II Semester) on 13/06/2026 at 10.00 am at BLDE (DU), School of Law, Vijayapura. The resource person for the session was Dr. Prasanna kumar D, Associate Professor, Karnataka Law Society’s, R. L. Law College, Belagavi.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the guest speaker by Mrs. Lavanya Kulkarni, Assistant Professor, School of Law, Vijayapura who introduced the resource person and highlighted his academic contributions in the field of law.
In the session, Dr. Prasanna kumar D explained the concept of Hiba, which refers to the voluntary transfer of property by a donor to a donee without consideration. He discussed the essential elements of a valid Hiba, namely declaration of gift, acceptance by the donee, and delivery of possession. The lecture also covered the types of Hiba, legal requirements, and circumstances relating to revocation of gifts.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Sheshadri K., Assistant Professor, School of Law, Vijayapura who expressed gratitude to Dr. Prasanna kumar D for sharing his expertise and guiding the students understand the practical and legal aspects of gifts under Muslim personal law.
